Even this article being a little late I must give my humble opinion on the Campus Party. I arrived at the Campus Party yesterday around 4 pm of course only after going through the accreditation needed to find our tent get our seats and use – as I call – the big-Lan House. It was more or less like the day yesterday before the official opening a large lan-house amazing and packed with a super-fast internet. The atmosphere was friendly everyone chatting playing having fun tripping man like nerds stumble I was unaware of this problem of nerds / geeks sitting 30 minutes saw five people stumble in front of me incredible. One of the things that could not pass was a great move from April to put two bunnies here at the event speaking in a place where people are just used to seeing that kind of thing. Unfortunately did not attend the official opening but could not help but hear the crowd going when they announced: Serra and Kassab from where came the incredible idea that the Campus Party is the solution to the problems of Brazil – beauty champion. Yesterday mainly on twitter I saw many people complaining about the Internet which was slow but fortunately is not what I witnessed and I am witnessing. They may complain they can barely speak but the phone is actually delivering what it promised. One of the lectures that I was able to follow on the Sun SPOT the English Sun Small Programmable Object Technology is a technology of wireless sensors it was developed by Sun Microsystems. It is very similar to that used in the Wii console a kind of motto. It has the standard connection of IEEE 802.15.4 the Sun SPOT-based system uses the Java Virtual Machine or Java Micro Edition JME which is known for J2ME. The speaker presented some devices it has created and some projects it is developing. One is a sort of remote control for PC for example where you can put music to play opening and closing programs as if the PC itself. Another project he is developing is a 3D mouse giving the possibility to make any movement using 3D modeling programs. Currently the system is not widely used in Brazil but by the way are trying to bring more developers to it. The Sun is distributing kits to create some tools with SPOT still very limited number of kits available containing: demo sensor boards two Sun SPOT; a base station Sun SPOT the softeware development tools and a USB cable. The standard for Java IDEs can be used to create applications such as NetBeans everything should be sent to aSPOTWorld that will make management and deployment. Already a custom blog posting on other sites or blogs that I find interesting is the time of the Nokia Guru . Amazingly I did not know the blog Ive met through conversations with friends here at the Campus Party. This project Nokia brings together several editors who write about mobility services provide tips and some fun facts about Nokia phones. The blog is basically an updated user manual Nokia. The blog is updated almost every day at least I could follow. I recommend the signing of the feed. Anyway Im not sure but it seems that blogging is accepting new publishers just register and wait for the answer who is experienced with the products and services Nokia can give your guys out there. During the lecture on cyber crime that happened today at the Campus Party this afternoon in the area of ??Free Software several people gathered and protested against the bill by Eduardo Azeredo. Several posters were used by people with clown noses they asked for freedom on the Internet. Phrases like Im downloading music – two years in prison were the most used. Also protested about the fact that Eduardo Azeredo not personally attend the event sending a representative. Visit: CyberCampus

The fact is that the popularization of the Internet has made this activity turn into a trend among Brazilians perhaps the fault of the novel Workout but who knows!? While attending a lecture on type design I noticed something strange happening in the area of the Campus Blog as I am not even a little curious I had to go check what was happening in those parts. As I get to the massive crowd discover why all this fuss: Yes I put the bigger picture just to take it! It was the recording Nerdcast # Eight thousand four hundred and fifty. Take a peek at the crowd: Not so many people joined the bunny (¬ ¬).

Yesterday 21/01 I could follow the lecture half a Green Campus unfortunately I arrived a little late and could not stuff anything but I left there with something to say. If the original idea was to bring awareness to the campuseiros the performance was somewhat FAIL. First the stand of the Campus Green is not just away from the main areas of the event put a wall separating it from the rest of Campus Party. Seriously I can not get involved much with naturalists biologists vegetarians hippies do not talk like them but they isolate was dirty. It is somewhat difficult to come up with legal issues for the Green Campus which integrates technology with green awareness something that engages the participants now imagine doing this without anyone knows his whereabouts it is difficult is not it? Worse this is not the fault of campuseiros who are not interested in talks the Green Campus here is more or less like Trinidad and Tobago everyone has heard but nobody knows where it is! One of the lectures that will happen has been going here at the Campus Party is the Type Design Workshop aimed to teach participants to create fonts true / open type. Well first were talking about non-professional (at least for now) then we use a freeware program for this tutorial. Again this is not exactly presented in lecture but lets say I found an even easier way to work with it. Download the program by clicking here . Simply unzip the file to be ready for use. The easiest way to create a source of course would be to modify an existing one but to create a new one would be almost the same steps: Click File> Open> Select the font installed and click OK. The process for modifying a source is very simple just select the character you want by double-clicking. You will notice that the fonts have some points to modify the source simply just drag these points. The square dots and circles retar trace trace curves. To add more points just click on a point and then: Points> option you want. Repeat with all the characters you want to modify and click Font> Install. Pretty simple but it is something that requires creativity designer thing I have not. Visit: CyberCampus
